Law firm guides first client through IP MOT
Leading South West law firm, Stephens Scown LLP, is delighted to announce TJ International as the first business to successfully pass its intellectual property (IP) MOT®.
Padstow-based innovative book printer and binder, TJ International, approached the specialist IP legal team at Stephens Scown for their free IP MOT. They wanted to ensure the ongoing investment in the firm was not undermined by issues with their website, trade mark rights, e-commerce contracts, data protection, and more.
Lauren Topper, legal advisor at TJ International, commented: “From my first meeting with Stephens Scown, I have had informative commercial and sensible advice, with clear guidance on how to proceed to ensure we were not only keeping within the law, a potential minefield in this digital age, but also making sure our trading identity is safe and secure.”
Over 100 businesses have undertaken Stephens Scown’s IP MOT since March 2013, with TJ International being the first to successfully pass the tests ensuring they are not only secure legally and professionally, but also showing they have taken on board the legal requirements and embraced the concept for continued future success!
IP is owned by every business and, for many, it is the single most valuable asset they own. Unfortunately, most do not realise the true value of IP, what can be done to protect their rights and indeed if any rules are being broken.
Stephens Scown has over 40 partners and 230 staff across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. For more information visit www.stephens-scown.co.uk
