Exeter-based Chartered financial planners Shipman Financial Planning have been recognised as best in their field by a prestigious business magazine read across the world.

Shipman - based off Southernhay, Exeter - has been voted Client Choice winner of the 2014 Corporate Intl Magazine Global Award: Family Business Advisory Firm of the Year in England.

The award is given to companies who, as well as being successful over the past 12 months, have also shown "excellence not only in expertise but in service".

Corporate Intl magazine has 350,000 subscribers in 150 countries across the world, including business leaders, investors and advisors. Previous winners of Corporate Intl magazine awards include the likes of Ernst & Young, Wiggin LLP, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BDO & Deloitte.

The Global Awards are confirmed following detailed research via independent editorial teams. They create a shortlist of up to 5 in each category with eventual winners being reviewed and chosen by an independent awards panel in each country.

"We are delighted to have been recognised in this way," said Peter Ellis, Shipman Managing Director, "especially by a publication with so many readers who really do know the ins and outs of our industry.

"We may be a small firm but we are achieving big things. This award, I believe, reflects the expertise and hard work of our team of highly-qualified advisors and their determination to exceed each client’s
expectations."

According to Corporate Intl, ‘Our awards promote leading firms in their chosen specialisms throughout the world. They are a huge accolade for those firms that are awarded as winners in their specific categories."

Shipman traces its roots in Exeter back to 1935. Its clients include successful entrepreneurs and family businesses, partners in large legal firms, senior medical consultants, high profile charities and family trusts.
