Everys Solicitors in Exmouth has begun a succession plan to ensure this branch of the firm is left in safe hands.

Long-serving Everys legal expert Clive Dixon has worked at the Exmouth branch as a qualified solicitor for 44 years and actually started his training with the firm’s predecessor, W Linford Brown & Sons, in 1964. A general practitioner, Mr Dixon will be reducing his hours in the near future but Everys has already put plans into action to ensure a smooth transition of his caseload.

James Griffin, Everys’ managing partner, said: “Clive has nearly 50 years of legal experience and is an integral part of the Exmouth and East Devon community. We value Clive tremendously and are therefore delighted that we have been able to retain his services on a consultancy basis so he can keep in touch with his clients while also introducing them to other members of our team here.”

Peter Bridgwater has recently joined Everys to at first work alongside Mr Dixon before carrying on the latter’s commercial work.

Mr Bridgwater qualified as a solicitor 21 years ago and joined Everys from Stones Solicitors in Exeter where he worked for 10 years gaining broad commercial legal experience. He studied in London and Guildford before working in the City, Birmingham and Bristol before returning to his Devon roots.

The father-of-two and keen windsurfer was already familiar with Exmouth’s beautiful beaches and he said: “I was ready for a change and I believe I am the right person for this job as Clive and I both have broad commercial experience. I shall enjoy working away from the city and actually getting to meet more people face to face rather than being tied to my desk.”

The rest of Mr Dixon’s caseload will be taken on by the rest of Exmouth office’s legal team which has extensive experience in residential conveyancing, probate, tax and family law.

Mr Dixon said: “The Exmouth office has always strived to meet all the legal needs of its local population and I am delighted to welcome Peter on board to ensure our commercial department is left in a safe pair of hands.”
