Careers advice for the over 50s
Careers South West has launched an initiative that promises to help fifty-somethings decide on their future career path.
The new ‘Mid Life Career Forecast’ service offers free careers advice sessions to people aged 50 and over and is available for up to 200 eligible people across the South West on a first come, first served basis.
The Mid Life Career Forecast is suitable for mature people who are considering whether to change their career at this more uncertain time of life as well as those who want to develop their skills more, are interested in self-employment or want information about retirement options. It is also an ideal service for anyone facing redundancy.
During a face-to-face session, the dedicated Careers South West adviser will discuss individual circumstances, look at alternative careers and training opportunities and suggest useful hints and tips for CVs and interview techniques.
National Careers Service Delivery Co-ordinator Tom Banks said: “This initiative reinforces the fact that careers advice isn’t just for those starting out on their careers.
“As more and more people consider taking a new direction much later in life for a variety of reasons, the National Careers Service is here to offer free guidance and encouragement every step of the way,” added Tom.
