The company, which is one of the UK’s market leaders for software, online customer portals and real-time data solutions in the insurtech sector, is set for a 40 per cent increase in its workforce, with a range of new roles being introduced across the business.

The news comes after a successful 2018 for the firm, based at Cranmere Court in Exeter, which saw key new client acquisitions in sectors including insurance, retail, local government and energy.

Some 14 new roles are being created immediately, and the company is also seeking to expand its range of associates, including developers, testers, customer service  and user experience specialists, as it ramps up work in the coming months with existing and new clients and projects across the country.

Anthony Peake, Software Solved’s Managing Director, said: “Our offering of custom software development, data and integration solutions and online customer portals is proving extremely popular in a range of sectors as organisations seek to achieve greater levels of efficiencies, savings and customer engagement.

“Building on a very strong two years, we are now stepping up recruitment in line with our growth plans. We’re delighted and excited to be operating on a national level from a city that is a fast-emerging tech hub. We have a wonderful team at Software Solved and I’m confident that with the right mix of digital skills and emerging technology expertise, we will continue to grow and help organisations thrive across the UK.”

Already working with six of the top 10 insurance companies including RSA, AXA XL, and AVIVA, and with key clients including Save the Children, The National Trust and Devon County Council, Software Solved is continuing to diversify into emerging technologies including machine learning, augmented reality and data visualisation. The company is also set to announce a major data research project funded by the Government through Innovate UK in the coming weeks.

Karime Hassan, Chief Executive of Exeter City Council, said: “Exeter has a growing reputation as a digital hub with renowned strength in data sciences. Software Solved’s ambitious expansion here is further evidence of our impressive growing digital economy.”

A Microsoft Gold partner, Software Solved, which also operates from offices in London and Bristol, has worked on over 1000 software development and data visualisation projects in 20 years.

Lindsay Lucas, Director of Operations at the company, said: “The tech sector is a truly exciting and diverse place to be. Most of our project managers are women and alongside programmers we need marketing, sales and customer service staff, more project managers, business analysts and software testers.

“Our immediate plan to invest in growing our team in Exeter demonstrates the confidence that the Board has in a bright digital future for Software Solved and that the South West is absolutely the right place for us to continue on our growth path.”

As well as the private sector, the company is working with an increasing number of local authorities, helping them to drive service improvements and efficiencies through better use of real-time data, custom software and digital visualisation dashboards that provide new levels of insight into services and operational performance.

Part of the upsurge in demand, believes Anthony Peake, is that more business leaders now recognise the step change that can be achieved by developing software solutions tailored to their needs, rather than buying off-the-shelf software that is expensive to customise and does not map well to the way they work.

He added: “We are seeing greater interest from a range of sectors which is very exciting. Our planned expansion is testimony to the company’s commitment to harnessing technology to drive productivity and improve services for our clients. These are exciting times and Exeter is the perfect location from which to continue on our growth journey.”
