Local business raises money for cancer charity
March was "walk over cancer" month for Cancer Research UK. The team at Impact for Change fully embraced this challenge. Russell Chapman complete 20,000 steps a day, Shane Pulling and Clare Leach, 10,000 steps a day for the whole of the month. Even young people got involved with Amara (10) and Rhea (9) Morris completing the 10,000 step challenge. As a team they walked over a staggering 930 miles!
An amazing £585 was raised for Cancer Research UK, Impact for Change matched the amount raised and gave £585 to Force, a local charity based in Exeter supporting people affected by Cancer.
Impact for Change is a business created with social enterprise principes, supporting vulnerable and at risk children and young people. The challenge was embraced as a member of the Impact for Change team, Les Leach was diagnosed and treated for throat cancer last year. The team watched and supported him and his family through this difficult time. He accessed the Force service and as a business we operate a "pay it forward" philosophy so it was imperative to give back to the community. We are pleased to say that Les is back at work, and apart from a few blisters Shane, Russell, Clare, Amara and Rhea are walking fine.
