Exmouth pub in the market for new landlords
The opportunity to run one of Exmouth’s most popular gastropubs has arisen after current tenants Faye and Yvan Williams announce they will not be renewing their tenancy. The Oddfellows in Exmouth underwent a complete refurbishment three years ago when the couple took it over, turning the premises into an attractive venue for locals and visitors alike in this popular seaside resort.
Faye Williams comments: “We loved setting up the pub in Exmouth and are proud to have created new jobs and invested in the local community. We’ll be handing over a beautiful building to the town and want to take this opportunity to thank our customers and also the amazing team for all their hard work and wish the new landlords every success going forward.”
The couple hope not to make any redundancies and are very optimistic that the staff can carry on their jobs with new landlords as part of TUPE agreement (The Transfer of undertakings (Protection of employment), when Heavitree Brewery hand-over the tenancy to someone else in June.
Faye and Yvan, who live in Exeter with their young family, own The Oddfellows pub and Speakeasy cocktail bar, which is one of the city’s most established meeting places. Building on the pub’s popularity, the couple created an outside event bar a few years ago and the bar took centre stage last year at the Christmas market on Exeter’s Cathedral Green. Catering for small intimate gatherings right up to weddings or festivals with 500+ people, this part of the business is growing quickly, and The Oddfellows already have over 20 events lined up across Devon this summer.
Yvan adds: “Faye and I took the decision not to renew the tenancy on the Exmouth pub as we want to concentrate on our well-established pub in Exeter and have time to focus more on our increasingly popular pop-up event bars. This part of the business has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and we’re excited about the diversity and variety it is bringing to our working lives.
