Exeter construction project wins gold
Kier Construction Western and Wales wins national Gold Award and is runner-up to the UK’s Most Considerate Site for its Exeter school project
Kier Construction Western and Wales has won a Gold Award, and was shortlisted for the Most Considerate Site, at the prestigious Considerate Constructors Scheme’s 2016 National Site Awards.
Its award-winning St Leonard’s School project was to construct a new six-classroom building and ancillary teaching facilities to the rear of the large junior school in St Leonard’s Road.
The award, presented at The Mermaid in London on Monday 18 April, was given within the category of sites with a project value of £10m and over.
Over 3500 guests from construction sites of all different sizes are attending award ceremonies during 11-29 April at venues in Edinburgh, London and Manchester.
The annual awards recognise the highest levels of consideration and care shown by sites registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme towards their neighbourhoods, the general public, their workforce and the environment. They are judged by Scheme Monitors visiting the site and rating their considerate performance against the Code of Considerate Practice.
The Kier Construction Western and Wales project team was commended for its outstanding community engagement, immaculate appearance, workforce safety and environmental consideration.
Scheme Chairman Mike Petter commented: “Congratulations to Kier Construction Western and Wales on achieving a Gold Award and being shortlisted for the overall title of Most Considerate Site. This is an exceptional achievement and highlights how Considerate Constructors Scheme-registered sites are continually raising standards way above and beyond statutory requirements.”
