Engineering consultants appoint new regional director in Exeter
SDS Engineering Consultants, announces the appointment of James Laughlin as its new regional director for Exeter. With three offices located in Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol, the company employs 54 staff offering a full range of mechanical & electrical (M&E) engineering consultancy services. Designing innovative, flexible, energy-efficient solutions, the company aims to create exceptional environments for living, work or leisure.
The practice was established in 2004 in Plymouth, followed by the opening of the Bristol office four years later. The Exeter office, opened in 2014, is successfully delivering projects across the South West and has grown significantly to 10 staff. In this year alone, it has created four new roles, including an electrical apprenticeship, with two more vacancies to fill.
The company are working on, or recently completed a number of local high-profile projects including: The £2.4m Gym & Dance Studio Extension as part of Exeter College’s Masterplan and a £10m development for Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education (ERADE).
An award-winning chartered mechanical engineer, James has a wealth of consultancy experience having worked on local, national and international projects ranging from £100k - £650m. As a new Regional Director for SDS, James brings his extensive experience to build on the achievements of the practice. James joins his fellow directors on the management board led by Managing Director, Shaun Hoppins.
