Cofton Holidays, the multi award-winning holiday park near Dawlish, South Devon, is leading the county’s charge at the i Newspaper Staycation Awards 2019, where Devon businesses have been listed in more categories than any other county. At the head of the assault, Cofton stands alone as the only tourism business in the UK to be shortlisted in multiple categories.

Shortlisted for both Caravan / Camping Site of the Year Award, and the Sustainable Tourism Award, Cofton joins six other Devon-based businesses plus North Devon among the 65 finalists in 17 categories.

Recognised as the UK’s only national staycation awards, reaching the finals is seen as a huge achievement for any tourism business. Cofton Holidays, alongside Valleyside Escapes, Gara Rock, THE Pig-at Combe, Pickwell Manor Ltd, North Devon and Devon Dens, will discover if they are winners at a glittering ceremony, hosted by The One Show’s Matt Baker, on Thursday 21st November 2019. On the very same night, Cofton will also find out if it has won in the Family Business of the Year category at the Western Morning News Business Awards.

One week later, Cofton will see how it fairs at the Devon Tourism Awards 2019, where it is shortlisted in five categories: Holiday Park of the Year; Self Catering Accommodation of the Year; Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Business of the Year; Dog Friendly Business of the Year, and Café and Tea Room of the Year. Then, on 12th December, Cofton will discover if it has prevailed at the 2019 UK Pool and Spa Awards, where it is shortlisted in the Holiday Park Pool of the Year category.

Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, is thrilled with the Cofton shortlistings saying: “2019 is proving to be a bumper awards year for Cofton Holidays. It’s flattering to be shortlisted in so many categories and at so many different awards. It’s going to be a frenetic awards season, but we’re looking forward to flying the flag for the county.”

Helen added: “The Cofton team work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver an unforgettable experience to all of our guests and being recognised independently for that is testament to our fantastic staff.”

She continued: “The fact that Devon has provided more potential winners than any other county at the i Newspaper Staycation Awards speaks volumes for the quality of experience that visitors can look forward to when they come to our stunning part of the world.

“Here at Cofton, guests return year after year to enjoy not only our award-winning facilities but the glorious corner of Devon that we are located in. Through the passion of our team, investment in our facilities and services, and the desire to go the extra mile, we aim to lead the way for our region. We look forward to all the award ceremonies and have our fingers crossed for a great set of results.”

Cofton’s facilities include a heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools and much more. Guests also have access to five coarse fishing lakes, miles of cycle paths and nature trails that take visitors through woodland to the golden sands of Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve.

Free kids’ clubs take place each day throughout the school holidays, from Easter through to the October half term. Other free activities on site include the new £50,000 Woodland Adventure Area which features a 25m zip line, a climbing cage, rope ladders, balance beam, balance lines and scramble nets.
