This September, business community tool BBX UK will be launching an initiative to generate funds for charities through its network. ‘Sparetember’ will be a month-long campaign where businesses will donate goods and services to charities through the platform.

Businesses on the BBX platform trade with one another using BBX Pounds, which they can use to order supplies or services for their business. Throughout Sparetember businesses on BBX can donate their spare capacity to help charities across the nation. This can be anything from unsold hotel rooms and magazine advertising space to unsold hours for a bookkeeper. Charities will then be able to source whatever supplies and services they need from the platform such as marketing support, infrastructure for events, accounting and finance support or perhaps even office supplies.

Paul Cox, Managing Director at Shark Trust says: “As well as funding their charitable activity, all charities have to pay for the basic overhead costs of running a business. Sparetember is a great way for other businesses to help out by donating unused resources. We are so grateful to be involved as it will allow us to free up more cash to dedicate to our core mission.”

The fundraising initiative was inspired by the positive responses similar month-long charity campaigns such as Movember and Stoptober have received in recent years.

John Attridge, Founder and CEO of BBX, commented: “We are excited to be launching this initiative, utilising our fantastic business community for a such a great cause. We want to give back and support charities that support us by being a part of BBX. It’s also a great way for businesses on BBX to enhance their CSR initiatives as well as providing a feel-good factor. We don’t want other charities to miss out, so we are welcoming charities that aren’t already on BBX to sign up in time for Sparetember.”

BBX is encouraging businesses on its platform to donate spare capacity they have over September for this cause.

John adds: “We have already received a great response from businesses who want to get involved and support the charities. Being part of a community is really what we are all about at BBX.”

Charities will be allocated a BBX Account Manager who will work closely with them and help them to source goods and services they require through the network. By sourcing goods and services through Sparetember, charities will be able to offset some of their cash costs and be able to focus and invest in their projects.

Charities involved in the initiative include Dorset Blind Association, Diverse Abilities, Shark Trust, NSPCC, YMCA Exeter, Impact, Lincs2Nepal, Decision Time Ministries and Sports 4 Wellbeing.

Charities which would like to sign up to Sparetember can contact 03334 002014. To find out more about the campaign visit https://bbxuk.com/bbx-angels/.
