Yellow wind warning issued for Devon

Strong winds are set to batter Devon tomorrow, with gusts of up to 70mph forecast.

A band of showers will cross the region on Wednesday morning with winds strengthening in association.

Isolated gusts of 70mph are possible in exposed areas and around west and northwest facing coasts, with 50mph gusts possible inland.

There could be some localised disruption to travel.

The five day regional forecast for Devon is as follows:

Today:
Cloudy and windy today with prolonged spells of rain through the morning. After a drier spell, more showers arrive from the west towards evening. It will be a mild start to the day, but turning colder later. Maximum Temperature12 °C.

Tonight:
Clear spells at times tonight and colder than last night. Increasingly windy, with gales a possibility for some coasts. Bands of showers, possibly wintry, move south-eastwards over the region overnight. Minimum Temperature3 °C.

Wednesday:
Cold and very unsettled on Wednesday, with frequent blustery and wintry showers for all areas and strong winds and gales, possibly severe in southwest Cornwall. Feeling much colder. Maximum Temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Thursday more settled initially, with lighter winds and increasing chance of rain later. Turning windy into Friday with spells of rain and possibly hill snow. Cold and showery on Saturday.
