Top teen author to visit Exeter Library

One of the UK's top teen authors will be visiting Exeter Library to celebrate National Libraries Day on Saturday 6 February.

Cathy Cassidy, bestselling author of Dizzy, Driftwood, Indigo Blue, Scarlett, Sundae Girl, Lucky Star, Gingersnaps and Angel Cake, will be at the library from 10.30am to meet readers, give a talk and sign copies of her book ‘Fortune Cookie’.
 
Cathy has written more than twenty five books for teens and is a Sunday Times bestseller, having sold over one million copies in the UK alone. She was voted in the Richard and Judy Best Kids’ Book Ever chart and has totalled more than 2.7 million in sales worldwide. She was voted Queen of Teen in 2010 after thousands of girls worldwide nominated her as their favourite author. She is a bestseller in France and is published in 24 languages.

Bittersweet, was selected for World Book Day in 2013 and reached No.2 in the UK bestseller children’s chart. Her latest novel, Looking-Glass Girl, was published in April 2015.

Cathy has been writing since she was young girl, and sold her first short story to a national magazine at 16.

She studied art at Liverpool University before becoming the fiction editor of Jackie Magazine and was also the agony aunt for another teen magazine, Shout, for twelve years.

After a brief spell teaching art in a Coventry secondary school, she now spends her time writing. She lives in Scotland with her husband and two children.
