Teignbridge residents can learn more about ‘The Teignbridge 10 super projects’ and how the council will meet the needs of the district over the next 10 years.

Teignbridge is taking its new Council Strategy on the road so communities can find out more.

The Council Strategy is Teignbridge’s new 10-year strategy that replaces the Council Plan 2011-15. It sets the tone for how Teignbridge works, its vision, goals and how these will be achieved. It’s important because it helps target services effectively to meet local needs and shows how Teignbridge’s work benefits local people, businesses and visitors and provides good value for money.

The Strategy provides a positive and clear direction for the district and how the council delivers even better outcomes for residents, businesses, the voluntary sector and communities.

At its heart is the Teignbridge Ten 'super projects'. These are connected areas of work and will guide the council’s activities and the shape of its services to withstand future technological, economic and social changes and deliver real progress for the district.

The Teignbridge Ten continue to champion what is great about the district, its people, the environment, business and heritage while meeting its rapidly changing needs.

A variety of research, information, data and evidence was used to shape the Strategy along with informed and valuable consultation with councillors and the public.

Cllr Jeremy Christophers, Leader of Teignbridge District Council and Group Leader for the Conservatives, said:

“The Council Strategy is a really important document for us and our communities. With public services facing continual change, and with ever increasing challenges, we want to provide the best services we can in the future. Teignbridge wanted a strategy in place that will sustain the district through the next decade.

"We’ve talked to businesses, community groups, partners, and over 1,000 residents to find out what’s important to them and the strategy is the result. If you’re near an event, I’d urge you to find out more.”

Cllr Mike Haines, Group Leader of the Independents, said: “Over the next few weeks Teignbridge residents have the opportunity to find out more about the new Council Strategy for the district while also engaging in community events in their local area. Two good reasons to go out and support your local community!”

Cllr Gordon Hook, Group Leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: “It's great that Teignbridge representatives are attending these events and listening to residents. I am very keen that Teignbridge should be a listening authority; it is vital in my opinion that councils readily respond to the stated needs of its residents, prioritising needs over wants. In the current climate we must prioritise the "must do" functions, over the ‘nice but not vital’.”
