Local sponsor, award-winning housebuilder Redrow (West Country) will be giving some lucky festival-goers a chance to enjoy a birds eye view of the festival, as visitors take to the skies for a tethered ride in their big, red hot air balloon (weather permitting) at Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th April.

Toby Buckland’s annual Garden Festival is fast becoming recognised as one of the most important events of its kind in the South West, attracting celebrity gardening experts and providing a place for enthusiastic gardeners to meet and speak to award-winning growers. This year it will be an even bigger event with some of the country’s best plant specialists plus speakers - Joe Swift, Christine Walkden, Jim Buttress and many more. Gardening craft and equipment stalls, entertainment and high quality local food and drink producers add to the festival atmosphere making it a great day out for all.

“This year at my Powderham Garden Festival I have some ‘Big Ideas for Small Spaces’,” explains Toby Buckland, “There are two major trends in gardening at the moment: those blessed with bigger plots are concentrating on specific areas near the house, while gardeners in new-builds are wanting to maximize every square foot of their plot and make their gardens a “living” room. But as the old saying goes ‘good things come in small packages’ and with clever design and the right choice of plants small gardens can be very beautiful indeed.

We know there are lots of new gardens being created in and around Exeter and I am hoping we can give those gardeners some great ideas.  And I am delighted some of our lucky visitors will have the chance to get a very different view of the Garden Festival as they take to the air in the Redrow hot air balloon.”

Joanna Holmes, Marketing Coordinator for Redrow (West Country) commented: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Festival, and we hope visitors will be inspired after hearing about the many ways you can make the most of your precious garden space, whatever the size. We’re sure that residents from our nearby developments, Warren Grove in Dawlish and our Exeter sites Bishops Court and The Harringtons, will be interested in taking down some of Toby’s top gardening tips on how to maximise their outdoor space! ”

Come and celebrate some of the West Country’s finest nurseries with a packed programme of talks, demos, and plenty of gardening inspiration.
