On Wednesday 26th October, Recruit Princesshay will host its first jobs fair on Bedford Street in Princesshay Shopping Centre between 10am – 4pm.

The Recruit Princesshay Jobs Fair is open to people from Exeter and the Heart of Devon who are looking for employment. Recruit Princesshay will highlight the latest live vacancies available at over 30 Princesshay stores and restaurants including Next, Byron, Fat Face and Wagamama, as well as other major employers in the city, working in partnership with Job Centre Plus.

The event will also offer a CV and interview surgery throughout the event for job seekers as well as introducing potential candidates to employers. Those who would like to attend are encouraged to pre-register for the event via the Princesshay website, www.princesshay.co.uk/jobsfair

Since March 2016, Recruit Princesshay has held four ‘employability workshops’ attended by 40 people, with 14 successfully placed into long term employment.

Karen Brammer, who recently became Supervisor at Clintons and attended a Recruit Princesshay workshop praised the scheme, saying, “I would strongly recommend Recruit Princesshay to jobseekers. Recruit Princesshay gave me the additional support and advice I needed when I was going through the recruitment process which can be quite daunting. I’d encourage anyone that wants to find out more to register for the jobs fair on the 26th October.”

Launched in spring 2016, Recruit Princesshay, initiated by The Crown Estate, which owns the Shopping Centre in partnership with TH Real Estate, aims to find skilled candidates who live in Exeter and the Heart of Devon. The service organises interview and assessment days on the companies’ behalf, so that candidates with relevant skills and experience will be put forward. Tailored training is also delivered to the candidates in partnership with employers based in the area.

Recruit Princesshay builds on the successful recruit London project, which has seen a partnership of organisations including Westminster City Council, London based charity Cross River Partnership and businesses including The Crown Estate, secure jobs for over 1,500 local unemployed people.  The Crown Estate is also delivering a similar work placement scheme at Fosse Park in Leicester.

Faheem Qureshi, Head of Employment Generation for The Crown Estate comments, “We’re really looking forward to hosting the first Recruit Princesshay Jobs Fair this month. The scheme has proven successful so far and we hope it will continue to grow. We work with stores and restaurants within Princesshay as well as across the city of Exeter to help businesses find the right people as well as helping local people in their employment search.”

Exeter MP, Ben Bradshaw said: “Our ambition should be to get unemployment in our city down to zero and Recruit Princesshay is already making a real difference in helping people in Exeter find work. It’s a great programme with a proven track record and I’d encourage anyone who is currently out of work to come along on the 26th to see what is on offer.”

As part of this service, work place mentoring and training is also provided to every candidate for six months after the initial appointment.
