The former Methodist Chapel on New Street, Honiton is set for a fresh start following the granting of a new lease of the premises by East Devon District Council’s property services team.

The building which was formerly occupied by Honiton Town Council before their move to the Beehive is set to be converted into a family café with soft play facilities by new tenant Harriet Spence.

Harriet said: “This is an exciting venture for me and one which I have worked hard to progress. The Family Cafe will provide a range of play areas for small children and babies as well as a comfortable café area where parents and older children can relax while the children play”.

The new lease of the premises was completed in late July and Councillor Mike Allen, East Devon District Council’s lead councillor for employment and business welcomed Harriet to the property and handed over the keys.

Cllr Allen said: “I am pleased to see this building brought back into use and hope it will prove a valuable addition to the range of businesses in the town. I wish Harriet and her team every success and look forward to seeing the transformation when complete”.

Work will now start on converting the property with an anticipated opening scheduled for October/November 2017. Further information about the centre can be found at the Full of Beans Family Café facebook page.
