On Friday 30th June, British rowing champion James Cracknell OBE, will lead a group run through Exeter’s City Centre to raise awareness of Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) being one of the chosen charities of Exeter’s Great West Run, which is taking place in the City later this year.

Owner of Exeter’s Great West Run, the double Olympic gold medallist will be joined on the run by several running supporters of CHSW, including a team from the Exeter offices of Girling Jones. The group will set off from the charity’s shop on Sidwell Street following a route down the High Street, around by the Cathedral, before crossing a finish line at Princesshay shopping centre where CHSW will have a welcome party.

Exeter’s Great West Run is taking place on Sunday 15 October, and Children’s Hospice South West has been chosen as one of the event’s official charities. Sponsorship from the run will go towards supporting life limited children and their families across Devon at the charity’s Little Bridge House in Barnstaple.

Josh Allan, community fundraiser at Little Bridge House said: ‘We’re delighted to be a chosen charity of such an iconic run and cannot thank James enough for helping to raise awareness of how running in support of CHSW really does make a difference.’

This year’s run boasts a stadium finish at Exeter Arena Athletics Stadium and CHSW has a number of free charity places available in return for sponsorship. Monies raised from this sponsorship will help to continue the hospice’s care and support to children and families going through unimaginable circumstances, providing respite breaks, palliative care, emergency stays, end-of-life care and bereavement support.

Places are limited, so if you would like to register please contact josh.allan@chsw.org.uk or call 01271 325270.
