A team of search officers are continuing their efforts to trace missing woman Gergana Prodanova.

Following her disappearance and the subsequent launch of a murder investigation an extensive operation utilising specialist police teams has been carried out in Exeter.

Around 30 officers are currently conducting house-to-house enquiries and police are particularly keen for landlords and tenants in the Mount Pleasant area of the city to search their gardens, outbuildings and allotments as the hunt for Gergana intensifies.

The force has also used the police helicopter and drone and has had support from specially trained dogs from South Wales.

Already around 2,000 properties in the Mount Pleasant area have been visited by police but officers need more information from the public to assist their searches.

Det Supt Paul Burgan, who is leading the investigation into Gergana’s disappearance along with colleagues in the Major Crime Team in Exeter said: “Although we have charged someone with the murder of Gergana we have still not traced her and we have no sightings of her since Thursday 4th August at around 8.15pm.

"Her family in Bulgaria need to know what has happened to her, especially her three children.

"While we have a huge team searching for Gergana we also need the public to help and this is a plea for our community to search their outbuildings for any sign of Gergana.

“The area in which Gergana lived is a popular student area with many flats and property lets and we particularly want to encourage any landlords to check their properties which may be currently vacant.”

A new CCTV image of Gergana taken at 8.15pm on Thursday August 4th near the Beer Box in the Polsloe area of Exeter which is just 100m from her home address has also been released.

Gergana was wearing a three quarter length beige coat, a black rucksack, and by this point was carrying a blue plastic carrier bag. She also had flip flops on and multi coloured leggings. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall, has long black hair and is of slim build.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 462 of 8th August.

Kostadin Kostov, 42 from Bulgaria, has been charged with the murder of 38 year-old Gergana Prodanova who remains missing from Exeter. Kostov appeared before Exeter Magistrates today, where he was remanded in custody to appear before the city's Crown Court on Tuesday.
