Since staff voted Macmillan Cancer Support as their first charity partner in January 2016, Inchcape Retail has raised an incredible £110,000 and counting.

Over the last 18 months employees have taken part in a number of key fundraising activities including their latest activity – The Colla-bear-ator Challenge, which involved the relay of an Inchcape teddy bear from Inchcape’s most northerly site in Sunderland to Inchcape’s most southerly site in Exeter. Along the way, each site was asked to write a note for the next and give the bear a name, with the winning name being chosen on the bear’s arrival at Exeter. To recognise the partnership Inchcape was presented with Macmillan’s ‘Building a Partnership Foundation Award’ earlier in the year.

In 2017, engagement reached an unprecedented level, with all 100+ sites taking part in fundraising activities, meeting the business objectives for cross-division collaboration.

The bear was named ‘Freadbear’ and to further increase the charity fundraising total, the newly named Freadbear was auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Angie Lawrence-Scott, Head of Communications at Inchcape Retail UK, said: “Our Colla-bear-ator Challenge has far exceeded my expectations as a fantastic employee engagement activity, giving our colleagues the opportunity to collaborate and have fun while raising money for Macmillan. I was sent an abundance of fantastic photos and videos of our Inchcape Bear enjoying his journey! Reaching the £100k fundraising milestone shows a real commitment from our colleagues to work together in supporting Macmillan.”

Vikki Price, Head of UK Fundraising at Macmillan, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Inchcape colleagues. The incredible amount raised to date will help us continue delivering essential help to people living with cancer across the UK.”
