The Exeter Business Improvement District is introducing an enhanced street cleaning service with the appointment of an operative who will take on the role.

The service, funded by Exeter BID, will provide additional cleaning to the BID area to ensure an improved environment for local businesses and visitors to the city. The additional cleaning services will be over and above the statutory cleaning services already provided by the City Council and will first target areas in need of a deep clean. This project is delivered as one of the key schemes identified by local businesses in the BID Business Plan.

The new cleaning operative will have access to machines capable of removing litter and hot-washing pavements. They will also be on hand to respond to issues reported by the BID team and levy payers and to carry out rapid-response emergency cleansing issues when needed.

Craig Bulley, CEO of Exeter BID Company says, “We’re pleased to announce the launch of an increased street cleaning service, dedicated to the BID area. Both local businesses as well as visitors to the city will benefit from the service and it will help to further improve the streets of Exeter. The new cleaning operative will work alongside the BID team, making sure that Exeter City Centre continues to be a desirable destination for tourists and local residents.”

The new cleaning operative will be visible in a BID-branded uniform and will provide cover five days in seven.
