Counting down to the Really Big Quiz!

Exeter chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards is thrilled to welcome local businesses to take part in its 13th annual Really Big Quiz.

Last year the quiz raised a record-breaking sum of more than £8,000 for the Lord Mayor’s charity and plans are well underway to make this year’s event another charitable success.

Taking place at the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 11 May from 6.30pm, the annual Really Big Quiz is an opportunity for local firms to compete for the title of Exeter’s brainiest business and help raise funds for the Lord Mayor’s nominated charity, The Exeter Foundation, which supports the wider community by raising funds for many local charities and projects within the city of Exeter.

The Really Big Quiz is well known amongst the business community as a fun-filled evening and many local firms will be returning this year to put their wits to the test. Already a total of 60 teams have signed up so there are only a limited number of places left to take part in the annual event.

All proceeds from the quiz, auction and raffle will be donated to The Exeter Foundation and it is hoped that the special evening and generously donated prizes will raise a significant sum for the charity. Auction lots and prizes donated so far include: Exeter Chiefs signed shirt and ball, two ECFC vs Liverpool signed programmes, four tickets to Comedy Club on 8th July at The Corn Exchange, a first edition Exeter Monopoly game and many more items that have been kindly donated to the list.

The winners of the quiz will receive a trophy and case of champagne; there are also prizes for second and third places. Last year 73 teams competed in the event, and together with a record breaking raffle, money raised from entry fees, auction bids and raffle tickets raised a total of £8,141 for charity.

John Coombs, partner at Simpkins Edwards, commented: “The Really Big Quiz is always a brilliant evening, one that we look forward to every year; and it’s great to have local businesses from many different sectors taking part.”
