Chudleigh woman dies in crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision at Chudleigh yesterday (Wednesday 16 November) in which a 60-year-old local woman died.

Emergency services were called at 3.40pm after the collision between a Ford Fusion and a Mitsubishi L200 Trojan at Milestone Cross.

The Ford was heading along Milestone Lane from Chudleigh and the Mitsubishi was travelling from the direction of the Whiteway Estate when the collision happened at the crosswords.

The Ford driver, a 60-year-old woman from Chudleigh, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two occupants of the Mitsubishi, a 35-year-old woman also from the Chudleigh area, and her male passenger sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed until 11pm for officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team to carry out an examination of the scene and for the vehicles to be recovered.

Officers are investigating the cause of the collision and are asking for any witnesses to contact them via email on 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 486 of 16/11/16.
