Pret A Manger will be opening the doors to its westernmost UK shop next month; a spacious corner site on Exeter’s High Street.

Due to open mid-September, the new shop is creating up to 20 new jobs, which the company is currently finalising recruitment for.

To celebrate the opening, Pret will be holding a two-day party outside the shop on 19 and 20 September, offering free hot drinks from a special Pret coffee van, and entertaining customers with a band, kids’ entertainer and face painter. The event will be held from 11am – 3pm on both days.

Inside the shop, customers will be welcomed by Pret’s full menu of handmade natural food, including sandwiches, salads, wraps, baguettes and hot options, as well as menu of organic teas and coffees, and a large selection of juices and cold drinks.

The new site will feature free WiFi and a seating area of over 130 spaces spread over two floors, offering a comfortable space for customers to relax whilst shopping or a convenient pit stop for commuters on their way into work.

Pret’s full range of fresh food is handmade in each shop kitchen every day and never kept overnight. Instead, the company donates unsold food to local charities supporting the homeless every evening. In 2014 Pret donated 3million food items across the UK.

Pret is currently looking for local charities supporting the homeless in Exeter to partner with. Suggestions can be made to Pret’s Foundation Trust Manager via Giovanna.Pasini@pret.com.

Drahoslav Balog, Manager of the new Pret in Exeter said: “We are thrilled to be opening a shop in Exeter for the first time and to start getting to know our new customers and local community – beginning with our celebrations on 19 and 20  September.

“Not only are we looking forward to getting to know our local customers and providing them with fresh, natural food and coffee each day, we’re also hoping to do our bit to help alleviate the pressures of homelessness in the local area.

“We are currently looking for local charities to support through food donations each night, and would love to be contacted by any organisations who feel they could benefit from collecting fresh, unsold food from us in the evenings after the shop opens next month.”
