Two directors of a Devon insurance company are set to embark on a big health and fitness challenge all in aid of charity.

Northcott Beaton, insurance brokers based in Heavitree, Exeter, is launching The NB Big Challenge this summer, an annual event, which will see them seek out a new exciting encounter each year.

For 2016, Directors Nick Beaton and Keiron Northcott have chosen to do the Exe Valley Endurance, a 60 mile walk over two days in June. In the run up to the main event they will both be embarking on a journey to get fit and healthy with the support of local health club David Lloyd.

Nick and Keiron will be raising money for the Exeter Foundation, the Exeter Chiefs charity, which supports a number of community charities including ELF, Dream Away and Force.

Their fitness regime and healthy eating plan will be starting immediately. David Lloyd has allocated ex-marine Simon Wilson to help them with the challenge. Simon has been in the fitness industry for 27 years and competes in triathlons. He will be regularly putting the directors through their paces and supporting them to achieve their goals.

Nick and Keiron’s weight and measurements will be recorded every week and people will be able to follow their progress through their Twitter account and blogs posted to the website.

Nick Beaton, Managing Director at Northcott Beaton, said: “I can’t wait to start this challenge. It’s all about raising money for the Exeter Foundation by putting Keiron and I through our paces. We are helping a great charity but also benefitting ourselves by losing some weight and becoming fitter and healthier. I’m definitely up for the challenge!”

Keiron Northcott, Commercial Director at Northcott Beaton, said: “As volunteer Deputy Chief Executive at The Exeter Chiefs, this is a charity that is close to my heart and I’m really proud to be able to take on the challenge so we can raise money for them. I’m looking forward to becoming fitter and healthier and it’s great that I can take on this challenge with my partner and friend, Nick.”

Simon Wilson, Personal Trainer and Fitness Professional at David Lloyd, said: "I'm more than happy to work with Nick and Keiron for their 2016 NB Big Challenge. I think it's great that they are raising money for charity and they will be getting fit and healthy in the process. I'm pleased that I get the opportunity to help them achieve their goal.

"I'll definitely be putting them through their paces. I've created a tough fitness program for them and meeting with them regularly to make sure they're giving it their all. Along with this they have a healthy eating plan which will support their training. They're determined guys and I have every confidence in them that they will smash this challenge!"

The NB Big Challenge is set to take place every year with the challenge determined by what Northcott Beaton’s Twitter followers want to see Nick and Keiron take on.

The Exe Valley Endurance walk will be taking place on 11 June finishing on 12 June. Nick and Keiron will also be inviting guests from the foundation to join them on the last 10 mile leg of the walk.

Donations to support the NB Big Challenge will be very much appreciated and can be made at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/nbbigchallenge2016
