During the summer months Darts Farm is renowned for its vibrant yellow fields of pick-your-own sunflowers and it’s superb ‘Maize Maze’. The beautiful flowers have raised a total of £5,034 this year for Darts Farm chosen charity, Hospiscare and the ‘Maize Maze’; a maze that’s constructed entirely out of the maize crop grown in the Darts Farm field, has raised a total of £3,061 for local charity ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund).

These are popular attractions with visitors in the area, and with a donation to Hospiscare or ELF, customers enjoy wandering around the field to choose their sunflowers and weaving through the maze, trying to complete the giant puzzle.

Darts Farm grow thousands of beautiful sunflowers on their farm near Topsham in Devon.

Michael Dart comments: “Over the past 11 years our pick-your-own sunflowers have raised a total of £32,012.75 and over the past 4 years our ‘Maize Maze’ has raised a total of £8,420. We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our incredibly generous customers that have helped us raise so much for these important local charities.

James Dart says: “We’re passionate about nature and sustainability at Darts Farm. Sunflowers not only brighten up your day but provide much needed food for wildlife and under threat bees. Once the sunflowers die down, they are enjoyed by birds, who enjoy feasting on the seeds. The maize is also used as feed for our cattle once the summer is over and it’s ready to cut. We’re constantly reviewing new techniques across the business to become as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.”

Hospiscare offers free support and expert care for those with a terminal diagnosis in the local Devon community and provides a vital source of support of their families at times of real need.

ELF is a registered charity supporting patients and their families attending the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital who are affected by blood cancers and blood disorders.

Over the past 25 years Darts Farm has continually evolved to become one of the most exciting shopping experiences in the South West. Darts Farm remains a family business run by the Dart brothers; the retail looked after by Michael and James and the farm headed up by Paul. The business is, at its core, still a working farm, and sells all of its home-grown produce directly through the farm shop.

Darts Farm prides itself on its exceptional customer experience and expertise, enhanced by the Dart brothers’ hands on management and their passionate members of staff and artisan producers.
