VIP treat for Exeter volunteer

The Exeter Foundation and Exeter Symphony Orchestra have joined forces with two local businesses to give a tireless volunteer a very special evening out.

C Group volunteer Shirley-Anne Fison will be a guest of the ESO at The Waterloo Concert on 20th June in Exeter Cathedral.

The 19 charities adopted by the Exeter Foundation were asked by ESO to nominate a volunteer who always goes ‘above and beyond’ to help others.

C Group Chief Executive Sharky Ward OBE who made the nomination said: "Shirley-Anne has been an avid supporter of The C Group for over 5 years.

"In that time she has worked tirelessly as a true ambassador for the charity.

"By facilitating introductions, providing prizes for auctions and fundraising on our behalf, her contribution has been, and continues to be immeasurable.

"It is impossible to put a price on the support that Shirley-Anne has given to The C Group over the years. She truly is an unsung hero.”

The purpose of The C Group charity, based in Lympstone, centres around ‘Inspiring business to support Royal Marines in need’.

Shirley-Anne and her guest will be picked up by a ‘My Own Chauffeur’ limousine to start their evening with a champagne tea at The Mercure Southgate Hotel before heading to the concert in the beautiful setting of Exeter Cathedral.

The Waterloo Concert, in Aid of ABF - The Soldiers Charity, features international violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Exeter Symphony Orchestra and the Exeter Philharmonic Choir, and will include 'The Lark Ascending' by Ralph Vaughan Williams and 'I was Glad' by Hubert Parry.
