Exeter law firm Browne Jacobson has announced Devon based ‘Pete’s Dragons’ as its charity for 2017-18.

Pete’s Dragons, which was founded in 2014, provides bereavement support through various projects to people affected by suicide loss across the South West region.

The charity offers practical advice, comforting hampers, financial assistance, holistic therapies, family fun days, grief recovery and respite at the charity’s sea-side holiday retreat.

It was set up by CEO Alison Jordan and her family in memory of Alison’s younger brother, Pete Wicks, who took his own life in 2010 aged 24.

Every year, each of Browne Jacobson’s five offices nominates a charity to support in their local area and last year the firm raised nearly £18k for good causes across its five office network.

Alison said: “I am delighted that Browne Jacobson has chosen us as its charity of the year.

“By partnering with us, they are helping to raise the profile of the important work our organisation does around suicide loss and vital funding which will be a real support to the families affected by this issue.

“We are really looking forward to working with them on some exciting fundraising initiatives over the coming year.

Julia Green, partner and member of the Community Action Committee at Browne Jacobson added: “Browne Jacobson is really passionate about supporting its local causes and communities. There are so many worthy charities that rely on funding in order to make a real difference but our people have really connected with the work and support that Pete’s Dragons gives and we are extremely excited to be working with them over the next year.”
