In the lead up to the 2015 General Election, Leading Women UK hosted a series of Election Special networking events across Devon.

These events were open to men and women and gave attendees the chance to have their questions answered by a panel of political representatives.

On 20 April the South Hams Election Special took place at the Venus Café, Blackpool Sands, Dartmouth. The network was joined by Labour candidate, Nicky Williams and Conservative candidate, Dr Sarah Wollaston. The ‘Question Time’ style discussion was facilitated by local business-women and Leading Women UK South Hams Champion, Holly Jones.

The event was kindly sponsored by leading South West based accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming. Fleur Lewis, Partner at Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants, said:

“The Leading Women Election Special last night was a fantastic event, and Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants is delighted to sponsor Leading Women UK. Meeting and questioning the candidates was a great way for Devon-business owners to highlight important local issues, such as the ban of zero hours contacts and the introduction of 2nd home tax. The candidates also faced some tough questions about women’s roles in party politics in the future and how young girls can be encouraged to take part in politics.”

Leading Women UK hosts networking and training across the South West. You can find out more about these events and book to attend via their website www.leadingwomenuk.com/meetings
