Busy year ahead for Exeter networking group

SUPPORT and training organisation, Exeter PA Network, which has seen its membership increase by 25 per cent in the last year, has launched its programme of activities for the coming 12 months.

The network, which is run by Kim Glover, continues to go from strength to strength, and now boasts more than 500 members.

It offers support, networking and development opportunities for personal and executive assistants, admin workers, secretaries and office staff across the city, and the first events in its busy calendar have already sold out.

Kim is executive assistant to Malcolm Dickinson, the Managing Partner of Michelmores LLP and a member of the Regional Advisory Board for EPAA, the PA profession's national association. She is well placed to understand the direction of travel in PA roles in recent years, and the support PAs need to ensure they are the best they can be.

‘We hear all the time about the lack of budget for training administration staff. We recognise how important their roles are, and how vital it is that they stay up-to-date, well connected and enthusiastic about their careers; this is an area where we believe the PA Network can play a vital role.

‘It is fantastic we are able to support local organisations by offering such a wide variety of learning opportunities and networking through the year for key members of their teams, at a fraction of the cost they might otherwise spend on training.’

Events this year include its monthly breakfast meetings with speakers presenting on a wide range of business and community topics, ad hoc social events and seminars.  The group will be holding its annual conference in October, with a fantastic line up of keynote speakers, focussing on cyber security, online collaboration and the effective management of ‘mood and mindset’.  Delegates will also hear from Paul Vice MC; former Royal Marine Commando who 'died' twice, and went on to become the most successful male athlete at the Invictus Games.

Upcoming events include:

Development session - 2020 Vision: Future Proofing Your Career with Russell Beck of Impellam in February at Exeter City Football Club

Venue visit - Buckfast Abbey in March

Seminar - ‘Resilience and mental toughness’ with expert Phil Sampson from Sampson Hall in June at the Deer Park Hotel near Honiton.
