Leading independent electrical wholesaler, Devondale Electrical, has been awarded bronze by people management assessor, Investors in People.

The business was first assessed as achieving the standard in 2012, but the most recent assessment found that Devondale had moved up to the next level.

Managing Director, Paul Wood said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved not just the standard, but a bronze level.

“This is a real stamp of approval for the professionalism of the company and a recognition of our commitment to bringing on people who work within our team.”

The Marsh Barton head office recently underwent a programme of refurbishment, including a bespoke training room for employee CPD such as product training, sales training and customer service.

In all, Devondale Electrical has eight branches across the South West and employs 62 staff including six apprentices at different locations. All employees are encouraged towards personal achievement, and one Devondale branch manager and his apprentice scooped national industry recognition earlier this year at the annual Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) Annual Awards.

“Devondale is expanding as a business, and we’ve just opened our newest branch in Paignton. Any good management team understands that skilled and appreciated employees are the key to a successful business; for that very reason, as we grow we will continue to invest in our people,” added Paul.

Investors in People has set the standard for better people management since 1991 and accreditation is held by 14,000 organisations across the world. The system uses a rigorous assessment methodology to assess businesses.
