Exeter firm crowned winner at prestigious Bett Awards

Maths Kitchen, based in Exeter, has been crowed a winner at the prestigious Bett Awards 2024 – a celebration of the most innovative solutions and technologies transforming the lives of students and educators worldwide.

The Bett Awards are a highlight of Bett UK, the world’s biggest EdTech event, which took place at London’s ExCeL Centre from 24-26 January 2024. Across the three days, it brought together 30,000 stakeholders – including 10,000 education decision-makers, 600 innovative EdTech and resource solution providers, and 400 speakers.

Produced in association with the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), the Bett Awards recognise excellence across all realms of EdTech, from digital platforms for monitoring student progress to online resources supporting teacher training.

Maths Kitchen won the Ahead by Bett Award, which was created to celebrate the EdTech solutions transforming the Higher Education space. Maths Kitchen is an innovative learning platform designed to support students with Maths learning in Year 9, 10, and 11, and GCSE Maths revision and exam preparation. In particular, its platform MathsKitchenFE – which offers practice questions, bitesize modules, and bespoke assessments for learners and teachers that are aligned with the Functional Skills Maths syllabus – was recognised with the Bett Award.

James Willmott, Founder of Maths Kitchen, said: “We really had not expected to win last night so it was a great surprise. For the hard work we have put in over the last two years to be recognised by our peers and to receive the award surrounded by so many amazing people involved in the world of EdTech was fantastic.”

Charlotte Kenny, Head of Client Engagement at Bett, said: “Congratulations to Maths Kitchen for winning the Ahead by Bett Award. I’m so delighted that their innovation, hard work, and dedication to transforming the teaching and learning experience through technology has been recognised.

"The Bett Awards are a benchmark of excellence, and it is important to bring together trailblazing companies from around the globe who can inspire and learn from one another, and to celebrate the incredible impact of their creative solutions.”

The award winners were announced on 24 January in a ceremony at The Brewery in London, hosted by stand-up comedian Lucy Porter, and presented onstage with coveted Bett Awards trophies. The full list of winners can be viewed on the Bett Awards website.
