CARL Bennett from Ogwell in Newton Abbot has returned to work at a Devon-based family-run printed-packaging company as its Production Operative after 18 years (August 2022).

The 47-year-old originally joined Newton Print Ltd in 2002 but moved to another role in 2004, and has returned as its new Production Operative, ensuring production is running at optimum efficiency.

He said: “I originally worked at Newton Print for two years in the early noughties and thoroughly enjoyed my time, so it’s great to be back again with the team.

“I have worked in various positions since but decided to return to the company this year. My day-to-day duties include ensuring the smooth running of the production process and working on improving the process and machines.

“I am really enjoying being able to improve the operation’s working environment and I’m a passionate believer in making lots of small, incremental changes to improve the overall business. It’s very rewarding watching how these changes make a difference to our customers, both in terms of speed and cost-effectiveness.”

In his spare time Carl enjoys doing DIY, spending time with his family, including his two daughters, running and cycling.

Founded in 1983, Newton Print Ltd is an approachable, friendly, forward-thinking and carbon-balanced printed packaging firm that provides a collaborative approach to client partnerships based on traditional customer relationships, married with pioneering, innovative ideas, to create successful and sustainable results.

Tim Besley, Managing Director at Newton Print, which specialises in assisting artisan, start-up and SME food and drink producers to bring their products to market on time, said: “We’re thrilled to have welcomed Carl back to the team. He has fit right in and it’s almost like he was never away – it certainly doesn’t feel like 18 years!

“Carl has grown his capabilities and is now a well-rounded and experienced print production specialist, which is quite a craft these days. He’s brought energy and a creative brain to our workforce and we’re all glad to have him around.”

Benefiting from its own on-site production and inhouse creative expertise, Newton Print is a packaging mentor for SMEs. It aims to help demystify printed packaging to allow artisan brands to develop, succeed and grow.

It provides print runs of anything from 1,000-250,000 with a focus on beautiful, luxury, sustainable printed food packaging, including food sleeves. It is also able to offer short-term special edition print-runs – perfect for product testing, tailoring products to specific retailers or for bespoke promotions.

The hard-working, skilled team ensures its clients receive top-quality workmanship and ultra-fast delivery.
