Phoenix Breakfast - Ottery St Mary

I would like to talk breakfast groups. OAC Ltd have been to many breakfast group meetings in and around Exeter in our time and indeed still do. What about you? Does your MD see a regular expenses claim for breakfast, if so, what do tell him he gets for his investment? What do you, maybe as the one who spends pounds putting on the lbs every week want from breakfast meeting, is a good breakfast the whole story? I have had bad breakfasts at great breakfast meetings. What makes it work?

Do you have a regular business lunch meeting? Which time of day is best? Lets face it, if we had the spare time, not to mention the spare cash and our partners didn't mind us putting on the pounds and leaving at 6am every morning, we could eat every day of the week, all day if we wanted!

But what are we getting out of all these meetings? Aren't we just saying the same things to the same faces same time every week? I say, No!

Early Wednesday morning I shall be at the Tumbling Weir in Ottery St Mary. The Phoenix Breakfast group meets there every Wednesday at 7:30. Paul, the poor bloke, the owner, puts up with us, week in, week out. The bunch who turn up on a regular basis are a good mix of people, the group isn't over heavy with rules, "you can't have two members of the group who have the same initials", you know what I mean? We have a great discussions, deep stuff sometimes. A few weeks ago the chair had to leave early and as would a ship without a rudder, the discussion wandered and we got onto philosophy!

I guess what I'm saying is its not one thing, or one person which makes a good business meeting. I guess too its like Social Media, there may be 1 Billion users on Facebook now, but if no-one interacted with each other, then it just wouldn't work. I mean, you can't beat a good "face-to-face" to get a bit of business done! I followed the chiefs win last Saturday via Twitter on my phone from South Devon - a colleague was actually there, no comparison!

By the way, Paul at the Tumbling Weir does a most excellent breakfast - look us up some time!
