#5 – Precooked Frozen Shrimps

You need to be very careful when you feel like preparing shrimps at home. Our suggestion is that you skip the packages that they offer in big supermarkets. Instead, buy shrimp at a local fish counter. The difference is that precooked frozen shrimp that you can buy at the supermarket is processed with too much salt (around 75 mg alt per ounce), while you won’t find nearly as much sodium salt when you buy them at a fish counter.

#4 – Cornflakes Yep, most people are still completely unaware of the fact that a cup of cornflakes contains around 274 mg of sodium salt. While this is still the breakfast choice of many people around the world, it is highly advised that you switch to something of similar taste but far healthier – whole-grain cereals. For example, a cup of cooked oatmeal only has about 2 mg of sodium.

#3 – Ketchup and Mustard It is no secret that a lot of people can’t imagine a life without mustard and/or ketchup. This problem is especially present among kids. And it is quite a big problem, as a tablespoon of ketchup contains 167 mg of sodium salt, while a tablespoon of mustard contains 168 mg of sodium.

#2 - Smoked Trout, Salmon, or Turkey Did you know that these three foods go through a very salty brining process before they are smoked? Most people are unaware that a 3-ounce serving of smoked salmon for example, contains more 600 mg of sodium salt. You should really be careful how often you consume these products!

#1 – Cottage Cheese Bodybuilders simply love cottage cheese, as it is one of the foods that greatly packs on muscle. However, you should also know that this product contains as much as 918 mg of sodium salt per cup. Nonetheless, there are low-sodium versions of cottage cheese, which are great, as they contain only 29 mg of sodium salt per cup.
