Exeter and Falmouth Student Union's win NUS awards 2016.

Falmouth and Exeter student’s union won the Officer Team Award at the NUS awards 2016.

The ceremony was held on the 6 July at the Arena and Convention Centre in  Liverpool. NUS received 295 nominations for the ten NUS awards.

The NUS judging panel said that the officer team at Falmouth and Exeter had worked incredibly hard over this past year, and their decisions and actions are based on what is best for students and the union.

The union also won a highly commended Green Impact award.

Alexa Webster, Falmouth and Exeter student union president of community and welfare said: “This award means so much to us. We’ve worked so hard this year and these are not just people who work together, these are genuinely my best friends.

“We’re the only students’ union in the country that represents two universities, it’s been a tough year and it just means so much. We’re all a bit happy, excited and in shock at the moment.”

Students Unions’ 2016 and the NUS Awards saw 967 student leaders, speakers and NUS staff visiting Liverpool on July 5 and July 6. Keynote speakers at the conference included former British wheelchair racer, parliamentarian and television presenter Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, hip hop artist, writer and educator Akala and UK Black Pride founder and executive director Phyll Opoku-Gyimah.
