Devon project ‘The Devon Active Villages’ are urging locals to give them their support and help them win this year’s National Lottery Awards. The Devon Active Villages project, by Active Devon, is a finalist in this year’s award’s Sport category; one of seven categories that will recognise the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.

The Devon Active Villages works with people to discover what sports they enjoy, and once they have gained this information they try to arrange for these sports to take place in local communities and villages. So far the group has helped around 10,000 people across rural communities to take part in sport on their doorstep, and now they are asking you, the public, to help them win this year’s National Lottery Awards. The group, who are funded by The National Lottery, believe winning the award will gain them recognition for their hard work.

Matt Evans, Chief Executive of Active Devon says: “Winning this award will be a huge thank you to everyone who is working so hard to deliver this fantastic project. It’ll also be recognition to all the volunteers and people in villages who are continuing to make sport happen in their communities.”
