Introducing award winning AsOne Theatre Company’s
next new piece of writing, the play PASSION By Stephanie Dale

True stories of War and Love 100 years apart

Playwright – Stephanie Dale
Director – Peter Leslie Wild
Composer/Arranger/MD Tim Laycock

A Lieutenant commanding his platoon in the Royal Marines died in 2008 – his family learn to live without him. A 19 year old Private Infantryman deployed witnessed the death of an Afghan child, and missed the birth of his own. 100 years earlier a father and soldier returned home from the desert of Mesopotamia only to disappear for 17 years. A smiling man years after returning from the Somme encouraged grandchildren to poke pudgy fingers through the hole in his wrist. A father shot between the eyes during a Christmas Truce football match remains where poppies grow. If they returned it was to people that did not understand so ‘they never told them.’ Their treasured diaries, photographs, letters and interviews a legacy of love, pain, humour and war experiences have revealed a story with huge affect down the generations.

“Intertwining stories from the First World War and the present Afghan Conflict, PASSION integrates genuine memories, original live music and song to create a poignant, sometimes funny, vivid and surprising take on the effect of war on combatants and families alike.”

Multi-award winning AsOne Theatre Company present a gripping new piece of theatre with live music -
five incredible stories of families affected by war.
The play has been created using real testimony from people:
who’ve fought in Afghanistan; who’ve waved their child off to fight; who’ve discovered a WW1 relative’s diary.
Intertwined with extensive research and dusted with talent this is affecting theatre at its best.
