1985, Harare, Zimbabwe. Robert Gabriel Mugabe is carving a new African vision, Michael Jackson’s Thriller is shredding the charts and Radio Gaga is all we hear.

At school, in order to avoid the boredom of learning by rote and the casual dispensation of corporal punishment, a young boy tells the folk tale Peter and The Wolf to his class. In his telling of it, Russia is replaced with Africa, the duck with a rooster. As his story of The Wolf unfolds, the boundaries between Peter’s world and the boy’s life at home, with his stepfather, begin to blur and merge.

Peter and The Wolf (and Me) is an autobiographical tale of childhood, alcoholism, faith and family. Live music, 80’s pop culture and huge energy create an entertainingly poignant play.
