Open Couple (7pm)

Hannah Brook

Dario Fo’s Farcical Drama “The Open Couple” is a play of boundaries; whether that is within the characters’ own inhibitions, or the literal playing area of the stage in which the fourth wall is tested rigorously. ‘The open couple’ mixes mind games, miscommunication and emotional blackmail with hilarious consequences in this draughty, open marriage.
Using minimal set and utilizing their training from Cygnet Theatre where the emphasis is on character driven story telling, Exeter based actors, Hannah and Scott wish to draw attention to the text and action of the play.
This production is to be the first in a growing repertory of ‘two-hander’ plays as part of their new touring company.

Filled with heightened physical drama and sharp witty dialogue, this play will carry you through a bent reality of one couple’s fight for their own ideal marriage. Can either person win this game, with out abiding by the rules?

No Filter (8.15pm)

Squiffy Cabaret

‘No Filter’ is a challenging and intimate look at how our culture and society can shape the way women view and project sexuality. Putting musical comedy at the forefront, Squiffy Cabaret take you on a journey of playful sketches and outrageously funny songs, drawing from heartwarming, personal experiences in a slick, sexy and sophisticated cabaret setting. Exploring the boundaries and connection between performance and truth, ‘No Filter’ is moving, relevant, and outspoken.

Using interweaving narratives and multi-roling, the show takes a glance into the little world of Squiffy Cabaret, underscored by the duo’s unique contemporary jazz sound. Inspired by their own personal experiences, and the experiences of those around them, ‘No Filter’ is about the struggles and joys of being a woman. And having sex.
