From the devastation of the Leningrad Blockade, 1941, came one of the most life-affirming pieces of music ever to be composed. Dmitri Shostakovich's 7th Symphony lifted an entire city in its darkest hour, instilling renewed faith in our capabilities as individuals, as well as the unifying spirit of a people as one. The Conductor is a concert-play: a story told, and woven within the music of the symphony itself. They watched the skies, waiting for anything to lift their hearts, and their prayers were answered in a moment that revealed the true dignity and power that art may serve.
