Two folk and roots duos emerging from the South West folk are joining forces to perform in East Budleigh’s Salem Chapel.

Solarference create sublime and mysterious music, combining traditional folk songs together with laptops. Their innovative live sampling techniques create a unique musical palette of atmosphere and melody. Nick Janaway and Sarah Owen have been performing together as Solarference since 2007, gathering a growing critical acclaim, and have been described as "Arresting, atmospheric and thrilling ... Solarference are one of the most original acts playing English folk music" (fRoots Magazine).

Ben & Alfie have forged a unique sound of complex rhythms and colourful harmonies, drawn from an eclectic range of influences including West-African, Latin and Eastern European traditions. Performing with voices, violin and double bass, they achieve a fine balance of subtle musicianship with a raw and fiery energy that has consistently moved and delighted a wide variety of audiences. “An absolutely delicious performance!” (West-country Storytelling Festival).

In the atmospheric surroundings of this ancient building, the performance will take place from 7.30pm-9.30pm, with refreshments on offer.

There is limited disabled parking directly outside. Plenty of on-street parking is available in the village - please allow for a few minutes walk to the Chapel.

Tickets for the performance are £5 (£3 for full time students and those unemployed), and can be purchased on the door, or purchased in advance by calling 07876 524221 or emailing sarahjrowen@hotmail.com.
