Exeter School's Choral Society Concert 2016
Exeter School is looking forward to performing three contrasting pieces for the annual Choral Society concert held at Exeter Cathedral on Thursday 17 March.

Made up of current and past pupils, parents and staff, Choral Society will perform Fauré’s Requiem, a favourite within the choral repertoire, featuring a solo from music scholar Rebecca German who will sing the famous In Paradisum.

New to many performers and audiences will be contemporary composer Paul Patterson’s Magnificat. The piece is a real showcase for the glorious combination of choir and brass, and will provide a stunning spectacle in the Cathedral.

Adiemus, the work of another popular modern composer, Karl Jenkins, will be performed by the Middle School and Junior Choirs. Familiar as the theme tune for Delta Airlines, the multi-cultural influences, haunting choral sounds of the young voices and strings and percussion accompaniment promise to delight and inspire.

Director of Music Peter Tamblyn said he always tried to choose popular repertoire, from the standard choral repertoire, whilst also including something a bit new or challenging, and that this had gone down well in the past.

“Paul Patterson's Magnificat is the latter, as well as also being in English,” he said. “This year’s repertoire is representative of the inclusive nature of music at Exeter School. Pupils from the Junior School right the way through to the Sixth Form will take part in the annual concert at Exeter Cathedral.”

Prices for the concert are £16 (in the main body of the cathedral, where sound and vision are at their best), £11 (towards the back of the cathedral) and £8 (unreserved side aisle seats). There are reductions for children. Tickets are available to purchase from www.exeterschool.org.uk/box-office

People with special access requirements are asked to contact the Box Office on (01392) 458934.
