AJ's Big Band is the South West's premier 17-piece big band, specialising in the unforgettable music of the swing era. Under the inimitable leadership of Ken Parr, the band plays regularly throughout Devon and the South West for both dances and concerts. Since its inception in 1983 by the late Alan (A.J.) Hempstead, the band continues to sustain a high reputation, blending great ensemble work with exciting jazz solos.

The band plays a wide range of music, from the 1930s through to more contemporary arrangements, but, of course, with the emphasis on classic tunes made famous by the likes of Glenn Miller and Count Basie. The shows also always feature a wealth of great songs including the timeless hits of stars such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Our regular featured vocalist is the wonderful Paula Mitchell.

Tickets: £13.50.

Box office: 01884 255827 or 01392 411194.
