65 Daysofstatic
65daysofstatic began in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2001 as Iain Armstrong, Paul Wolinski and Joe Shrewsbury. They originally formed to try to write music to fit the unreleased and little known John Carpenter film, ‘Stealth Bomber’ (starring Kurt Russell).
Sheffield’s prog-rock math-metal heroes intersperse heavy, progressive, guitar driven instrumental sections with both idm-esque programmed and live drums. 65days’ albums maintain a distinctively gritty, almost industrial feel. The band, originally named after an unreleased John Carpenter film, have just released new record Wild Light – and it’s a doozy, building you right up with a gripping intensity.
