Hundreds of original paintings will go on display at the Devon Art Society´s spring exhibition at St. Annes Hall, Babbacombe Rd, Babbacombe. It runs from Sat 25 April through Tues 5 May and admission is free.

The exhibition has a classical theme covering floral, still-life, figurative and landscape as well as seascape subject matters. There will be some abstracts too but much of the work covers beautiful scenes of the West Country. You can expect to see some high quality paintings large and small at affordable prices.

The Devon Art Society of Torquay has a long tradition of exhibiting and selling high quality paintings. Founded more than a hundred years ago there were painters of international standing in their midst. In the early days Arthur Hacker R.A. became the first President. Hacker (1858-1919) was an exceptional gifted artist, working on the fringes of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Even today the Society are proud to have the well-known artist Alwyn Crawshaw for their president.

Visitors are welcome to talk with the artists to share their impressions as many of the artists will be present throughout the exhibition.
