On 19 and 20 July, Killerton estate will host a brand new event, ‘Killerton Spun’. There will be demonstrations and exhibitions designed to show visitors the way in which materials such as wool, silk, cotton and linen can be transformed into fabrics, garments, braid and much more. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations, including crochet, spinning, printing  and lace making, all based within Killerton house and gardens.

Denise Melhuish, Killerton’s House and Collections Manager, said: "We are working in collaboration with staff and students from Bicton College who will have a marquee showcasing textile skills and willow weaving. Visitors will also be able to purchase items and garments made with traditional fibres in the shopping marquee.

" The event is inspired by ‘The nature of fashion’ exhibition which showcases Killerton’s historic collection alongside contemporary design. On arrival, visitors will be able to pick up a map to enjoy the ‘Nature of fashion’ garden walk which extends our exhibition into the outdoors. Both are available to enjoy until 2 November."

Killerton’s popular farmers market is also taking place on Saturday 19 July from 10.30am to 2.30pm, so visitors can enjoy great local food while they are there.

Normal garden and park admission applies. For further information contact 01392 881345 or visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/killerton
