Throughout his long career spanning over 40 years, Sir Joshua Reynolds regularly painted members of his wide circle of friends, both male and female. Donato Esposito, an art historian specialising in British art from the 18th and 19th centuries, will look at Reynolds’ circle of friends and their portraits, placing into context those of fellow Devonians such as Francis Hayman RA.
