Chagford will be bustling at a festive late-night shopping event on Tuesday 10th December 2013.

As always, the Dartmoor town will be a riot of colour with lights and over 50 decorated Christmas trees on all the shops.  There will be entertainment in all the streets from 6pm, which will appeal to all age groups and shoppers.  A hog roast, bands, hot chestnuts and Father Christmas for the children are just some of the fun and merriment on the night.

Each year, Chagford’s independent shops stage a Shopper’s Spectacular Evening.   Thousands of present ideas for all ages from pence to pounds are on offer.  Shoppers receive a FREE ticket, which might win them a cash prize to spend in the New Year.  Father Christmas will be there to greet the children from far and wide.  There will be music in the streets, this year featuring the Mosock Bulgarian choir, drummers, and lively entertainment throughout the town for all ages.

Andy Martin the local butcher is again serving up his famous Hog Roast to help keep shoppers’ hunger at bay.  If you are looking for a foodie gift basket then look in Blacks Delicatessen, Courtyard or the Moorland Dairy all are full of delightful Christmas goodies, and the Spar in the Square with their excellent choice will pleasantly surprise you. Local wine merchant Best Cellars has a superb Christmas wine selection from around the world. That special bottle is lurking here.

Being the season for gifts, then a visit to the galleries of Divine, Ludgate Fine Arts, Artisan and 30 The Square will provide some different ideas.  Walking around the Town, look in at the fashions in Casa Magnolia and Filly & Bounder, and of course the very necessary cards, wrapping paper etc at Sally’s and the Post Office.

You will also need to allow plenty of time to discover the multitude of hidden gems in Chagford’s two unique ‘department stores’ Bowdens and Webbers.

In fact, Chagford makes Christmas shopping easy and special.  Think about a special gift voucher from Amore Health & Beauty for that special lady (or man, try the foot massage).

By 8.30pm, tired, happy shoppers retire for refreshment to the Globe Inn, Ring of Bells or the Three Crowns.

Undecided about a certain present?   The moorland town of Chagford celebrates Christmas in style and with panache.  Just off the A30, it’s easily reached from all parts of Devon. There will be extra car parking for the evening in the local school grounds. You will quickly discover that Chagford is outstandingly different.

So why not come for a memorable night, enjoy a perfect evening of festive fun and solve your Christmas gift list?  There is also a Christmas Market from 5pm to 8pm in the Jubilee Hall.
