Father's Day and WWI Commemorative Day
This Fathers Day is extra special as we are thinking of our Dads and remembering those who fought in the First World War 100 years ago, many of whom would have been fathers too.
The Royal British Legion have designed a commemorative banner that will be on tour around Devon to mark this centenary year. The banner will be on display at Powderham Castle on Sunday 15 June. Any visitors that wish to may mark one of the red silk poppies on the banner with a message about a family member who died in the 1914-1918 war, to help form a record of how the war affected the county.
All 'Dads' are invited to visit for FREE' when accompanied by a paying child - we want you to have a memorable day so we have arranged some extra special activities, including Grab-a-bow & Have-a-go archery with Exeter Company of Archers. You will also have the chance to handle a snake or lizard. Dartmoor Reptiles proved very popular amongst our visitors last year so he will be returning to share his knowledge and introduce his family of reptiles to those who are willing!
There is a nominal charge of 50p for archery which will go towards our nominated charity - Hospiscare. All other activities are included in your Castle admission.
